Description John H. Boon, Territorial Treasurer, 1855-1855; 1856-1859. Oregon State Treasurer, 1859-1862. Boon came to Oregon in 1845 to work with the Methodist Mission. In 1860 he built a small brick building to serve as a general store, but also used it as the State treasury until a new Treasurer replaced him. The building is still known locally as "Boon's Treasury."
