Ferry,"M.R. Chessman." Named for Merle R. Chessman of the Oregon Highway Division, and built in Portland in 1947 for the State of Oregon. The ferry ran between Astoria, Oregon and Megler, Washington and operated until 1966 when the Astoria-Megler Bridge opened across the mouth of the Columbia River. |
